Who this policy covers

This policy explains what information the Glow Studio DIY website (https://glowstudiodiy.com) collects, why it is collected, and what happens to it. It applies to everyone who visits the site, sends us a message, subscribes to our email list, or leaves a comment.

Information you give us directly

• Contact form. Your name, email address, the topic you choose, and the message you write. This is stored in this website’s own database so we can read and reply to it.
• Email list. Your first name and email address, plus a note of which part of the site you subscribed from. This is stored in this website’s own database.
• Comments. If you leave a comment, WordPress stores the name, email address and website you enter, the comment itself, and your IP address and browser user-agent string, which help with spam detection.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, the server that hosts this site keeps standard access logs. These can include your IP address, the pages you requested, the time of the request, and your browser user-agent. They are generated by our hosting provider as part of running and securing the site.

This website also uses page caching to make pages load faster. Caching works on the page itself and does not identify you.

Cookies and browser storage

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies.

• WordPress comment cookies. If you leave a comment and choose to have your details remembered, WordPress saves your name, email and website in cookies on your own device so you do not have to type them again.
• Login cookies. These apply only to site administrators and editors who sign in.
• Browser local storage. The light/dark theme switch and the newsletter prompt remember your choice using your browser’s local storage. That information stays on your device and is never sent to us.

You can clear or block cookies and local storage at any time in your browser settings. The site will still work.

Comment avatars

If you leave a comment, WordPress may send an anonymised (hashed) version of your email address to the Gravatar service so that a profile picture can be shown next to your comment. Gravatar is operated by Automattic and has its own privacy policy.

Advertising and analytics

At the time this policy was last updated, no third-party advertising network and no third-party analytics service were running on this website.

How we use your information

We use what you send us to reply to your message, to send the emails you asked for, to publish and moderate comments, and to keep the website secure and working properly. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

How long we keep it

Contact messages and newsletter subscriptions are kept while they are still useful to us, and removed on request. Comments and their metadata are kept so that follow-up comments can be recognised and displayed. Server logs are retained by our hosting provider for their own limited operational period.

Who else sees your information

We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing. Your information is handled by our hosting provider as part of running this website, and by the Gravatar service in the limited way described above. We may disclose information if we are legally required to.

Your choices and rights

You can unsubscribe from our emails at any time. You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask us to delete it. Please use the contact form and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can.

Children

This website is intended for adults. Some projects involve tools, heat, glass, adhesives and curing chemicals and are not suitable for unsupervised children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
